Refund and Cancellation Policy for our services
1. Statutory 3-Day Right to Cancel ("Cooling-Off Period")
In accordance with federal law (16 CFR Part 429) and District of Columbia Consumer Protection Laws, clients have the right to cancel any home repair or renovation contract for a full refund within three (3) business days of signing the contract, provided the transaction was solicited, negotiated, or signed in the client's home or at a location other than the contractor's permanent place of business.
Key Terms of the 3-Day Right to Cancel
• Timeline: You may cancel the transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after the date of the transaction. (Saturdays are counted as business days; Sundays and District/Federal holidays are excluded).
• No Penalty: Cancellation within this window incurs no penalty, fee, or obligation.
• Refund Timeline: Upon receipt of a valid cancellation notice, all payments, deposits, or trade-ins made under the contract will be refunded within ten (10) business days.
• Exemptions & Emergency Work: Under FTC regulations (16 CFR § 429.0), the 3-day right to cancel does not apply if you initiated contact to request immediate emergency repairs or maintenance necessary to protect personal property.

Pre-Construction / Scheduled Projects:
• Deposits for Custom Materials: Deposits applied toward custom-fabricated items (e.g., custom cabinetry, ordered windows, specialty fixtures) or non-returnable materials are non-refundable once the order has been placed with the manufacturer or supplier.
• Administrative & Design Fees: Up to [e.g., 10%] of the project deposit may be retained to cover administrative costs, architectural/design drafting, or permitting fees incurred prior to cancellation.
• Remaining Balance: Any unspent portion of the deposit (excluding custom material costs and documented administrative expenses) will be refunded within fifteen (15) business days.
In-Progress Projects:
• If the project is terminated mid-construction by the client:
• Work Performed: The client is responsible for payment covering all completed labor, installed materials, and non-returnable supplies up to the effective cancellation date.
• Site Stabilization: The contractor reserves the right to charge for necessary labor and materials required to safely close, seal, or secure the job site to prevent hazard or property damage.
4. Contractor-Initiated Cancellation & Refunds
If we must cancel the project due to unforeseen structural hazards, severe weather, licensing/permitting issues, or force majeure events:
• Full Refund of Unearned Funds: The client will receive a 100% refund of all funds paid for uncompleted work and unpurchased materials.
• Account Settlement: An itemized statement of all work completed up to the date of cancellation will be delivered within ten (10) business days, along with any applicable balance refund.
5. Work Quality, Warranties, & Defect Remediation
Under District of Columbia law, home improvement contractors must fulfill services in a workmanlike manner following agreed-upon plans and specifications.
• Inspection & Walkthrough: Upon project completion, the contractor and client will conduct a final walkthrough to establish a final punch list.
• Correction Period: Refunds will not be issued for cosmetic or minor technical issues before the contractor is given written notice and a reasonable period (minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days) to repair, replace, or correct the work.
• Workmanship Warranty: All workmanship is covered under a 1-Year Limited Workmanship Warranty. Repairs under this warranty will be performed at no additional charge to the client. Manufacturer warranties apply separately to individual fixtures and materials.
